Very informative museum and a fair amount to see and do, a nice hidden little gem and although the prices can be a tad steep it all goes to keeping our canals and waterways accessible and free!

A great day out for all the family. There are plenty of parking spaces and a good Café and Shop near the entrance to the Museum. There are regular boat trips at peak times and this is a very interesting place to visit.

A wonderful place to learn about our historic waterways, loads for kids to do and a lovely cafe to boot, overlooking the canal.

Called in for lunch at the cafe which is in the same building as the museum entrance and shop. The food was lovely and coffee hot. Couldn't ask for more.

If you want to learn about the history of our waterways or just go for a stroll around history, I would recommend a visit to the boat museum. Nice cafe if you want a cuppa and a cake, and even doggy treats for the 4-legged visitor. The museum is staffed by full-time staff and volunteers. Check out the website regarding any events organised throughout the year. It's definitely a hidden Gem. Ps check out the Manchester ship canal next to the museum.

Some really interesting things to see but it lacks some guides just to talk you through the exhibits also quite a few displays were shut for maintenance, now I fully understand this but why not tell the visitors before taking their money instead of letting them find out for themselves as they go round.

Lovely staff and nice little cafe. I'd recommend going when they have events on

The museum sits at the end of the Shropshire union canal and next to the Manchester ship canal. It's a great place if you have an interest in canals, boats, ships, people and their history. Oil tankers and other big ships can be seen close up as they pass by on the Manchester ship canal. There are many old boats and barges in the museum

Check the website before we travelled for opening times and then drove 90 minutes to get there only to find that it was closed for filming. Not mentioned on their website at any point.

Absolutely loved the ghost walk! Spooky stories at gorgeous historical site and hot chocolate and soup to warm up afterwards. Staff put on a wonderful show.
